Hello Reader, I stumbled upon a blog post this week that I wanted to share with you, knowing that many of you are parents and grandparents. The article is called "The Top 10 Skills to Teach Your Kids Before They Turn 18," and it is not just a regurgitated list of things everybody already knows kids need to know. It includes skills that I've never even thought to teach my kids, like calendar skills, and others that we have been working on for years, like self-advocacy. The author starts the list by saying she never dreamed that she would become a digital entrepreneur when she was a little girl ("digital" wasn't even a thing when we were kids!), and so she is focusing on teaching her kids skills that will be transferrable to whatever occupations they end up pursuing – knowing that many of the things our kids will end up doing haven't even been dreamed up yet. Read the article and let me know what you think. What skills do you anticipate your kids will need to be successful in a bright future full of jobs we can't even imagine in 2024?
